J is for 'Just Perfect' ending

So last night was the much anticipated season finale of Grey's Anatomy, the show that gives Thursdays meaning. I was so excited. I was glued to the t.v for the whole two hours. It did not disappoint. Most season finales end with a shocker or something to leave you hanging until fall, but they actually ended this one just perfectly. I think they were making up for last year's finale. I almost threw a shoe at the t.v. last year. I was mad for about a week.

Anyhow, thank God they 'fixed' stupid Meredith. Even though she makes me mad, I was always secretly rooting for her and Derrick (aka McDreamy). She finally got her crap together and did something totally sweet and out of character to win him back. It was magical. However, the whole Callie and Erica Hahn thing made me a little uncomfortable. I could have made it through the whole two hours without that visual. I'm also glad they sent Rebecca to the looney bin. I was never a big fan. I can't wait to see next season!

I is for Indiana Jones

Jeremy has an obsession with Indiana Jones. I don't know what, why, or how, but he does. I'm pretty sure he has a man-crush on Harrison Ford. Not long after we had gotten married, he made me watch some of the movies from the trilogy, or whatever. They weren't half bad. I had preconceived notions that the whole movie was him in the desert roping snakes. Needless to say, I was pleasantly suprised.

I think he has watched the trailer for the new movie twice a day for the past month. He even mentioned dressing up for the premiere. How embarrassing. But alas, he will be out of town at a graduation when the premiere comes out. What a bummer. But he is planning on us going to see the matinee on Saturday after we drop off a friend at the port in Tampa. Indiana here we come!

H is for "Hooray for the beach"

So this past weekend, I got to go to St. Augustine beach with my gal pal, Jenna (who is also pregnant) and her husband Jon. Jeremy unfortunately had to miss out b/c of work. Can I tell you how relaxing it was? All we did was sit on the beach all day Saturday (perhaps a little too long considering how toasty my shoulders got). It was great. Constant breeze. No makeup. Great convo. Very few people. Sunday was a little more of the same, but this time we walked on the beach instead of sitting (with my spf 30 in tow).

Somehow, we even managed to get hit on by some 20 year olds. I imagine they would have ran for the hills had they known we were both married and pregnant. Nonetheless, it just proves that we still got it goin on. So while my weekend wasn't filled with too much energy and excitement, it was just what I needed. I love Florida

This is precious. You have to watch it. It was sent to me at work about a month ago and I watch it about once a week.

F is for First Trimester Fun

Well, now that we have told the world that we are with child I thought I should clue you in on how much fun the first trimester is (esp. for those who may be next, cough cough, Heather and Kristen

1. Fatigue- This is my main battle. My schedule is as follows:

7:40- alarm goes off. snooze. Think to myself  "I can't do it".
12:00 lunch breakscarf down food, sleep for 20 minutes
3:30- try to stay awake at my desk, maybe nod off for 10 min.
5:15-6:30- nap
11:00- bedtime (with no sleeping pills, thank you)

I have been too tired to cook, workout, do laundry, dishes, etc. Thank God for my sweet husband, otherwise our place would be in shambles. The only thing that makes me feel better is this direct quote from my pregnancy bible "A pregnant womans body at rest is working harder than a non-pregnant body running a marathon." Hah. Bring on the naps.

2. Morning sickness. my favorite. But honestly, it hasn't been that bad. My version of morning sickness comes mostly in the form of food aversions, although I have had my fair share of hovering over the porcelein goddess.  It goes something like this:
Morning time- starving.
Cereal? NO.
Oatmeal? Double NO.
Waffles? GROSS.
Toast? eh. Maybe

3. Cravings. I haven't had these too bad, like I said, its mostly aversions. However, the first few weeks, it was lemons. Weird I know. Of course when I found out I was pregnant, I told Jeremy "If I ever crave anything nasty like McDonalds, please don't get it." He agreed not to. Well, last week for some reason, I was craving none other than McDonalds. So gross, but I couldn't help it. So what did the hubby do? He went out and got it. You would have thought he had brought home something from Ruth Chris. Don't judge.

4. Hunger. Did I mention I eat every two hours? Sometimes I have two dinners. And sometimes my growling stomach wakes me up at 2:00 in the morning.

5. New Rack. Thats all I will say about that.

E is for EXPECTING!!!!!!

Thats right...Jeremy and I are having a baby!! I am about 9 weeks along and I still can't believe it. I have taken about 15 pregnancy tests (see collection above) over the past month, ya know just to be sure. I didn't really believe it though until I saw our little butter bean on the ultrasound (see pics below). After we left the dr's office yesterday I looked and Jeremy and said "Oh my gosh, I'm pregnant". "Well, Duh" he says. (as if the 15 pregnancy tests and all the other fabulous first trimester symptoms didn't clue me in)

If you look at the pics you will clearly see that the thing is already cute, complete with chubby cheeks. The size of my baby now has been compared to an olive or grape. I have been like a proud mom carrying around my pictures (too bad I didn't get any wallet size). I take them with me everywhere, I am already in love. I am already becoming "crazy picture mom". We also got to see it's little heartbeat which the ultrasound lady said was strong (185 bpm). As of right now, we are due on December 12!

D is for Do-List

So I was kind of inspired by my husband's blog to come up with a do-list. Some goals, if you will.

1. Stop worrying about what other people think of me. Who cares anyway?

2. Quit obsessing over my body.

3. Keep up with politics and current events

4. Read the bible more

5. Start trusting God more

6. Do a better job of keeping in touch with my friends

7. Let the people who mean the most to me know how much they mean to me.

8. Quit living in fear

9. Go to Greece. I want to go to Santorini Island sooo bad. One day I will. I may be old and retired, but I will go.

10. Go to Africa and serve people in need.

11. Continually be thankful for what I have been blessed with.

12. Eat more veggies

13. Be a good wife and mother

C is for Caramel-Banana Pie

Ok so its really banana caramel pie, but it works reversed too :)

On of my favorite places to eat in the entire world is Mammy's Cupboard in Natchez,MS. They have the best food ever. They are also known for their desserts. When you go eat there, they don't ask if you want dessert they ask what you want for desert. My favorite dessert there would have to be their banana-caramel pie. I have been bound and determined to find that recipe and I think I succeeded. I have made a few over the past few months and have been asked the recipe a few times. I will share:

Ingredients
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 graham cracker crust
3-4 bananas

For whipped topping:
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Heath bits

To make the caramel, place the unopened can of sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan (peel the label off first), and add enough water to cover at least 3 inches above the can. Make sure the can is covered at all times, b/c if not it will explode. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 3 hours, adding more water as necessary. I would do 3-4 can at a time and keep the other cans in pantry so you already have caramel for next time. Remove from heat and cool. I would refrigerate overnight.

To make the pie: Open the can of caramel. Spread a thin layer on the bottom of the pie crust. Slice the bananas and layer on top. Cover with the remainder of the caramel. (Putting the caramel on top keeps bananas from turning brown). Refrigerate

To make whipped topping (You can always just use cool whip if you prefer)
Pour the whipping cream into a mixing bowl, and beat until soft peaks form. Add the sugar and vanilla extract; continue beating until stiff peaks form. Spoon the whipped cream over the bananas. Top that with Heath bits (optional) Chill at least 1 hour before serving.

YUMMY!!
(P.S.- I promise I am not going to keep blogging about food)
