We have really sweet friends

Thanks to Jenna, Dave and Mariam who surprised us with an Anniversary cake. Seriously, how dang thoughtful is that? And how cute is this cake?

I felt so guilty cutting into it.

Leyton, on the other hand, did not.

We figured we should share our cake with him. He was, after all, thought of that day.

4 years..

"We can always look back at what we did
All these memories of you and me
But right now it's you and me forever
You and me together, we could do anything
The two of us together, we could do anything ..."

(Not so) Wordless Wednesday

I haven't been doing great job of documenting Leyton's recent doings or new words. It seems like he has a new one everyday. He will pretty much say (or try) anything we ask him. My new favorite is "Alright!" I heard him saying it over the monitor this morning. He is getting more precious by the day (if that is even possible). I know if I don't record this stuff, I will start to forget. So I present to you a long rambling post. Here are some recent "stats"

• 25 lbs/31 inches

• He now has 9 teeth, including 2 new molars and is about to start cutting an eye tooth (yikes).

• He runs everywhere he goes and he loves being chased

• He can be pretty bossy and adamant at times.

• He doesn't let his elephant lovie from Aunt Glynne or his puppy (pictured above getting snacks) from Granny Zoe get to far out of sight.

• He has also become quite the snuggle bunny and will cuddle in my lap for as long as 5 minutes (probably thanks to teething) and I am eating it up!

• Any problem can be solved by Goldfish crackers.

• When he wants to go outside he will bring us his shoes and hat. And when he wants to go to sleep he will open the door to his room and shake the slats on his crib.

• His favorite foods include chicken, black-eyed peas and watermelon. He knows his roots lie in the Deep South.

• He is extremely ticklish like his momma.

Here is a list of some of his "words." I am also attaching a video of him saying a few of them for me. I know I haven't posted a video in forever, but I busted out the old camera just for y'all :)

Alright! (Aw-Wiiiight)

The in-laws come to town

We had such a nice visit with Jeremy's parents and grandparents this weekend. There was lots of food, laughter, shopping & entertainment provided by Leyton. It was nice to have Granny Zoe and Papa along for the trip, and I know Jeremy enjoyed having them around. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Granny Zoe & Papa taking Leyton for a walk. Or maybe the other way around.

Cuddle time with Gigi...

...and Granny Zoe

We also played "Mexican Train." This was so much fun - I was skeptical at first, but now I'm contemplating buying my own set. Guess who dominated the game? That's right- yours truly. Must have been beginner's luck.

Poor Polka Dotted Baby

My little boo has the hives. However, I don't think he even knows he has them which is a good thing. He is his normal happy, bossy self. But man does he ever look pitiful, which is why I am sparing you a picture of them. They started yesterday on his tummy but kind of faded after his nap. Then when I got home from work yesterday, he looked as if he has been playing in a mosquito infested swamp. It had quickly spread all over his legs, tummy and arms. [Insert panicky mother here]. The nurse told us to give him some Benadryl and see how it was in the am.

Well, it was no better this morning so we took him in and he was diagnosed with hives. We are all a little perplexed as to what he got them from. He has had no new foods, no new detergent, hasn't been sick and hasn't been outside since Saturday b/c of the nasty weather we have had. Its a mystery. I'm just so thankful he isn't itching and thankful that he isn't having the same reaction to Benadryl that my brother and I had which was H-Y-P-E-R. Although he did fight his nap (which he never does) so I had to rub his head and sing to him until his little eyelids fluttered off the dreamland.

I did it!

I officially finished my first 5K this weekend! With the help of Jenna alongside me, we ended up running pretty much the whole darn thing. (Thanks, Jenna!) I know to most people 3.1 miles is like a warm up run, but to me (who has never been much for running) that is a pretty big accomplishment.

We have been doing a "Biggest Loser" version type thing at work which is where the running began and I can finally say that the baby weight is GONE! 46 pounds in 15 months. Yes, you read that right. I did gain that much. Not proud, but true. Since November I had about 15 more pounds to lose and with alot of hard work and the help of a 'challenge' I finally lost them. I am finally able to wear things in my closet that I haven't worn in two years. I feel so much better and I plan on keeping up with the healthy lifestyle. I have a whole new respect for you people that do marathons and such. If you have actually made it to the end of this post, thanks for letting me toot my horn a bit.

A special day...

Happy birthday, mom! We love you and hope you have a fantabulous day.

Side note: I just finished my first 5K! More to come on that later.
