A visit from 'Aunt' Glynne

Meet Glynne.

We go way back. Back to the playground in third grade. We were inseparable in jr. high, high school and most of college. Literally. We even had some of our senior pictures taken together. Weirdos. After I got my driver's license and was handed down a 1980 navy blue El Camino that I was too embarrassed to drive, I would drive my car to her house every morning and leave it at her house while I rode with her to school. She would also drive the El Camino to get gas while I hid in the passenger seat in fear of being seen. That's a good friend.

It is so rare to have the kind of friend that you maybe see once a year, talk to once every few months but yet you always pick up right where you left off. She has been through just about everything with me- I don't think I would be the same person had we never been friends. We will be besties until we are elderly I am sure. We will have to make sure our kids put us in the same nursing home.

Anyhow, Glynne always had a way with the boys so it is no surprise that my little man took to her immediately. And I think she may be just as obsessed with him as I am. She took hundreds of pictures and video-ed his every move like a proud aunt. We were sad to see her go back to Nashville, but grateful for the time we got.

push me, push me

He was really, really upset when we told him that she had to leave:

Makes me want another

Introducing, little Jay Perreault. Isn't he perfect? He is so sweet and reminds me how fast and precious time is. I hardly remember L being that small.

Maddie's Party!

Confession: I want a tutu.

Don't you?

I mean, look how cute this little tutu is! However, I don't think I could pull it off quite as well as Maddie. I may have to have a little girl one day so I can vicariously "tutu wear" through her.

Isn't she precious?

Yesterday, we celebrated Maddie's first birthday. A good time was had by all, but Leyton had a grandeur ball. I don't think he would have even noticed if we left him there. He would have probably preferred that we had.

watchu lookin' at?

note to grandparents: see the remote control? Leyton is obsessed. I'm surprised he didn't slip it in the diaper bag. If you see a toy remote control on your next stroll in the store, send it L's way. Or better yet, bring it in person.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

1. I forgot to send a card, so I hope a blog shout-out will suffice for now.

2. I hope the Saints win for you tomorrow. Don't forget to take your blood pressure medicine before the game, please.

3. Leyton is really, really excited you are coming to visit soon.

4. Thank you for being such a loving father and awesome grandfather. We love you!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Sunday-Monday Funday

Walking and pointing. His usual.

Love the slide. It is even more fun to try and crawl up it.

The swing is still his favorite

Such a cuddle bug. He has been so snuggly lately. I love it.

Happy, happy boy.

Yep. He has figured out how to open the door. We now have to keep it locked so he doesn't escape.

Mom, these shorts are tight! And daddy keeps making fun of me for wearing them.

He loves to go "night- night" on the throw pillows.

silly

It seems as though our son loves to put things on his head:

He loves wearing my headband. Loves it. Maybe because we laugh at him when he has it on? If we take it off, he tries to put it back on. He also loves digging in the freezer and fridge when we have either open. Earlier this week, he snuck a box of waffles past me and had them scattered about the living room floor.

He also loves this firetruck from Gran. Thanks Gran! We roll it up and down the hallway every night.

Here is another shot of his banana-sweet potato-yogurt "do" from last week incase you didn't get enough last week.

just a few things...

1. Baby, its cold outside. So cold, in fact, that I have 4 frozen, purple frogs in my driveway. Gross. I did not bargain for frozen frogs when I moved to Florida. It has dipped down into the 20's almost every night this week. However, it is a nice break from the steamy heat that usually ensues so I am trying to not complain. I am glad that I purchased a cold weather items for Leytoni- Macaroni a few weeks ago. He fills out his "Florida snowsuit" nicely.

2. If you are one of the people that sent Leyton a Christmas present that had balls, toy gears, shape sorters, stacking cups or lego blocks like the ones pictured below, thank you ( I won't name names- you know who you are). They are now strewn all over my house. They have shown up in the trashcan, the dishwasher, the dryer, both bathtubs, stuffed in between the couch cushions, jammed into a toilet paper roll, and they are of course laced up and down the stairwell, since he likes to throw them under his gate uptop.

3. Leyton has decided to jump on the "green" bandwagon and use all natural products. For the hairstyle below, all you need is a little sweet potato, banana and yogurt. Just smash it in and roll it around for all day hold. (yes, that is a goose-egg on his forehead.)

4. We love to laugh around here. Jeremy and I made a promise that Leyton would grow up in a home full of laughter. I think we are managing pretty well so far.

“A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes, A chuckle comes from the belly; But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around”

First Random Post of the New Year

Warning: this is a totally random post with lots of pictures and no real point except to give you a few updates and shower you with Leyton's adorableness.

We had a very lazy Christmas and New Year's. Leyton had 2 ear infections over Christmas, but he overcame them very quickly with the meds. Then Jeremy and I both got a vicious head cold that finally went away about a week or so ago, but I was left with a nice sinus infection. I am glad to report that we are now all 100%. I am hoping to stay that way for quite awhile.

Leyton is as darling as ever and growing so quickly. He is walking all over the place and getting into everything he can get his little chubby hands on. He now says "mboooo" when you ask what the cow says and gives a pretty vicious "raaahh" when you ask what the lion says. He also points to his nose when you ask him where his nose is. Well, most of the time. Sometimes he just points somewhere on his face. There is a video at the bottom, but be warned he refused to "moo" oh well, I think he is over the cow. He has turned into a pretty good eater, but he is still very picky. His favorite things are grilled cheese sandwiches, broccoli + cheese, and yogurt. He adores his "dadeee" and whines when Jeremy puts on his jacket because he knows he is leaving. He then follows him to the back door and bangs on it. He is becoming very independent and I love watching him play, he does the funniest things. He still loves the throw his toys (the ones that fit under the gate) down the stairs.

It is very hard to get pictures of him these days because he is always on the go. Luckily, I managed to snag a few.

With Maddie, I think they were going in for the kill until the parents snuck in and ruined the moment

huh?

His new wink/smile thing

He's so darn handsome.

Daddy love

The lashes. Not fair.
