Headin' up to the Deep South

I guess you don't hear that phrase often. Normally you don't have to travel north to get to the south, but when you live in the melting pot of Central Florida which is not really "southern," you do. We will leaving for the land of sweet tea, magnolias, momma's home cookin' and high cotton tomorrow morning.

Jeremy will actually be driving the trip while Leyton and myself will be flying. We will mostly be in either Natchez or Hattiesburg, but I am in my friend, Amanda's, wedding the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Jackson. There will most likely be no blogging until we return on December 2, but you never know.

Hope ya'll have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Playmates and Playdates

Whew. We had a busy weekend while Jeremy was in Dallas. Leyton got to have a little play buddy every day this weekend. I love seeing him interact with others- it is quite entertaining. We are currently awaiting his favorite buddy, daddy, to hurry up and get home!

Friday, sweet Maddie came over to play for a bit. Leyton was showing her the ropes.

At Ethan, our neighbor's, first birthday party

sweet boys.

This picture cracks me up for some reason. When Ethan was opening presents, L just pulled up and parked right behind everyone to watch. Then when Ethan would open a toy, Leyton would bowl everyone over to go snatch it from him.

TODAY I AM...

This past month has been full of so many developmental changes for Leyton. He is really transitioning from babyhood to toddlerhood quickly. Just watching him play is amazing. I can't believe his first birthday is right around the corner.

Here are a few things he has been up to:

• He LOVES books. Loves them. He will bring a book to Jeremy or me and stand there very intently until we finish. Then when we are done he will either go get another one or he will take the one we just read them and smash it against our face until we read it again.

• He plays ball with us. When we roll it to him, he rolls it back to us- or tries to throw it which is pretty comical.

• He drags his toys to the top of the staircase and pushes them under the gate so he can see them roll down the stairs. He thinks it is so funny.

• He gives his toys a "ride" on his hippo push toy.

• He claps and waves when he gets excited.

• He talks constantly. I don't understand half of what he is saying, but it sounds important. His new "words" are uh-oh, ba-ba, and other things I don't quite understand. We have been trying to teach him that Santa says "ho ho ho" and he has actually said it quite a few times! I'll try to get it on video one of these days. It sounds more like "heh, heh, heh" or 3 grunts. He thinks it is so funny when we say it.

• He loves goldfish crackers, bananas, cheese and hummus.

• He loves pushing the dining room chairs around.

• We have had to get on to him about throwing his food and his cup out of his high chair. I think he just likes to see us play fetch. He also throws all of his toys out of his reach when he is in his carseat then gets mad when he doesn't have anything to play with. Its a rough life.

• He has a toy that has holes for certain shapes (circle, star, triangle, etc..) and he tries really hard to get the shapes in, and has succeeded a few times! He sticks his tongue out when he is concentrating on it.

• He helps us dress him by raising his arms and pushing them through the sleeves.

• He walks when he feels like it, but he still pretty much crawls everywhere. I guess he has decided it is faster.

• He has four teeth.

• He still loves tupperware and toilet paper. A few weeks ago I made the mistake of leaving the toilet seat up and the toilet paper on the ground. He then proceeded to put the whole roll in the toilet. Classic.

Whew that was a long update! He has just been changing so fast that I don't want to forget anything. Here are a few pics from the past week.

For you folks back home...

Here are some videos of little man walking and babbling. He has really taken off with this walking thing- he still crawls around alot, but he just started taking off on his own today. He may be running by Christmas. (excuse the sitcom in the background)

The second video is Leyton just babbling over some black beans. This may only be interesting to grandparents.
