ABC game

Ok, so I've seen alot of people playing the ABC game in their blogs. I think I will try, but I might not make it too far so don't expect much. Anywhoo, here goes:

A is for Almost Anniversary!
(that pic is of us on our 1 year anniversary)

We will officially be celebrating our 2 year anniversary on Tuesday (April 29). My how time flies. Seems like just yesterday he was trying to pick me up, and with a little help from Anzie, he succeeded. Its funny how much things can change in one year, much less two! Soon after we got married, we headed for the Sunshine State and haven't looked back. I have to say that these past two years have been the best two of my life. We have met some amazing people here who I cannot imagine not having in our life, but at the same time we dearly miss our friends and family back home. I absolutely love married life. I mean, we are pretty grandpa-ish at times, but thats ok. I am married to my best friend and I never imagined I would be as blessed as I am. This past year has been an exciting one full of change and I can't wait to see what the next one holds!

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Today is a good day. Not only is today my momma's birfday, but she is coming to see me!!!
Here are a few reasons why I love my mom:

1. She is insanely funny. Not just your normal funny. She is "make up a crazy name for you the first time she meets you" funny. Once you meet her, you will not forget her.
2. I could paint a turd on a a canvas and she would love it and hang it on her wall.
3. She doesn't care what I do as long as I am safe and happy
4. She is an amazing teacher and gives children with horrible situations something to believe in.
5. She used to stash chocolate in the house, but I knew where it was :)
6. She loves my hubby (but then again, who doesn't?)
7. She always makes sure I know how proud of me she is
8. She would rather have a "homeade" gift than a bought one.
9. She was never a "helicopter" parent
10. Most of my friends always thought she was cooler than me
LOVE YOU MOM! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Psycho squirrels

Ok, I know this is random...but I am terrified of squirrels. I'm serious. Ever since a lady in Florida got attacked by a squirrel while she was going into the CVS, I have been very wary of these little creatures. If you think they are all cute an innocent, just google "squirrel attacks". You'll see what I mean. There were seven squirrel attacks in Winter Park not too long ago (Watch out Kristen)! Soon after this fear was instilled in me I was sitting in my car about to walk into work a few months ago (at my old job). I had parked in front of a tree and there was this squirrel chomping on a nut staring at me. I decided to test this little monster and every time I would tilt my head to the right, he would tilt his head. I would blink, he would blink, and so on. I was being stalked by this squirrel. I ducked so he couldn't see me and waited for him (assuming it was a he) to go away so I could go into work. I soon made a mad dash (more like a brisk walk) so I wouldn't be late.

So what brought on this random blog about squirrels? Well, a few moments ago I was walking over to the sanctuary to drop something off. We have about 3 trees outside the sanctuary where the demon squirrels like to play. I wasn't paying attention, but I heard something very close to my feet. So I looked down and saw a very odd looking squirrel. Creepy odd. He had bumpy things all over him and he was foaming a little at the mouth. I almost lost my lunch. I just know he was looking for a victim. I think I may go home early now.

Do not assume that these little animals are innocent and sweet. They are out to get us, people! They want to take over...

hater drama

I know I usually post about lighthearted things such as the dentist and chocolate. However, this post is a little different. This week, our pastor received the above fax from a church in Topeka, Kansas. They are called Westboro Baptist Church and they preach hate. They preach hate because they say "the bible preaches hate". Really? I wonder if we are reading the same bible. I understand that our God can be a "God of wrath" and a "jealous God". But I also know that we serve a merciful, loving creator. You don't have to look very far to see that. Their website is godhatesfags.com. Their sermons have been titled, Thank God for dead soldiers, God hates you, Thank God for 911, The pope is in Hell, and God sent the shooter to name a few. They have also traveled around to picket funerals of military soldiers. Talk about disrespect.

So if you read the fax, you will see that they are coming to picket at our church on Easter Sunday. I pray for anyone's soul who wants to spend their Easter preaching hate to those going to worship the resurrection of our savior. If you know anything about St. Luke's you know that we are a very accepting church. By that I mean we don't care if you are gay, straight, an adulterer, or an alcoholic. Why? Because it is not up to us to judge. How can you lead people to Christ if you shun them away and shove their mistakes in their face? Did Jesus not hang out with murderers and thieves and make them his disciples?

It says in Matthew, chapter 7:
1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

It is very hard not to be angry that these people are coming here on Easter Sunday. However ,I know that the only way to combat hate is with love. And believe me, these people need love because it seems that hate rules their life. St. Luke's has taught me to look beyond the exterior and focus on the interior. I am proud of our church and everything we stand for. I can't help but think of the Martin Luther King quote: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that; Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."

an ode to Mr. Cadbury

I just want to take a second out of the work day to Thank you, Mr. John Cadbury, for creating the candy-coated Easter season goodness that you do. The thin, crisp, sugar shell that contains the world's finest chocolate are one of my favorite things about Spring. Even though I have done so good over the past few months with my healthy eating habits, having only dark, organic chocolate, I still can't resist the purple bags of Cadbury mini-eggs. I have gone for over month ignoring the sinful candy, but last week I broke down and just had to have them. I raced over to CVS and got the mini- one serving bag. for 59 cents. It quenched my craving for the weekend, but yesterday was just a long day, so when Jeremy had to make a Publix run I asked for some mini-eggs to end my day. Well he came back with 2 big bags ("they were 2 for $3" he said proudly) Great. Now I have two big bags. Perhaps I will hide a bag and save it until Fall. But then again, maybe not. Here's to you Mr. Cadbury man! You complete me.

one of those days....

I put the cereal box in the fridge today. I have never done anything like that before, Ever. Thank God I didn't put the milk in the pantry. Anywhoo, it has just been one of those weeks. And its only Tuesday. Tomorrow is looking up though!

Side note: Tomorrow will be even better if Hillary loses the Texas/Ohio primaries. I am really not a fan of the "Hill-billy". See pic below
